The Diploma of Ministry is designed to provide you with a solid Biblical foundation, basic communication skills and character development. The course has a solid Biblical core with the flexibility of choosing a number of specialised practical subjects. Students who graduate from the course will be more confident and excited about their faith and be able to communicate it in whatever context God may be leading them. The Diploma of Ministry is ideal as a gap year plan, as an internship program, as a year out for personal growth, or for those seeking to be involved in ministry.

The course is fully accredited, Austudy approved, and Fee-Help approved (for Australian Citizens).

Course Specifications
Entry requirements: Every candidate must:

  • Be a Christian, 17 years or older
  • Overseas students must be 18 years or older.

All students will also be required to demonstrate English Proficiency, which is equivalent to an academic IELTS band of 6.0 overall and in reading and writing subset. This can be demonstrated by either:

  • Evidence of the completion of studies undertaken only in the English language
  • Evidence of the completion of English studies undertaken at TAFE or an equivalent institution
  • Completion of an external assessment of English language, for example an IELTS (Academic Version)
  • Completion of an onsite English evaluation. Candidates will be required to attend the PBC campus to complete the evaluation.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: Every candidate must either:

  • have completed year 12 in the Australian school system or equivalent,
  • have other acceptable post-secondary qualifications (e.g. Cert IV or above in any field),
  • qualify for admission as a mature age student by obtaining a satisfactory grade in both the Essay and Test A of the “Alternative Test for Tertiary Admission” conducted by the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre Inc, or
  • qualify for Provisional Admission as outlined in P03 Admission Policy (available: www.pbc.wa.edu.au/resources/policies).
Duration: 1 year full time, or a maximum of 4 years part-time.
Structure: The course structure is based on two semesters (each 15 week duration), with four units taught in each semester. It comprises of:

  • 4 Core units
  • 1 Study Skills unit
  • 4 Ministry Units

Each unit carries 3 credit points and graduates require a total of 24 credit points to successfully complete the course.

Course Completion

Students may exit the course at any given moment, and will receive a Statement of Attainment with a list of all the completed Units. When a student has completed all the requirements of the 4 core Units and 4 Ministry Electives, they will be awarded with the Diploma of Ministry. The Diploma of Ministry is equivalent to 1 year of the Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Ministry.
