We are excited that you are considering studying at Perth Bible College (PBC). PBC is a nationally TEQSA accredited tertiary education institution providing higher education awards from Diplomas through to Masters Degrees in an environment of Academic Excellence that is Christ Centred, Ministry Focussed, and Life Transforming. Whether you study at our residential campus or online through our external program we commit ourselves to enable students to: “THINK deeply about Christ, his work and the world, and to SERVE him with integrity, courage, conviction and love.”
Studying for Christian Ministry is challenging and rewarding. Giving your life in the service of others is a calling to follow Christ. We at PBC are thrilled when anyone chooses to pursue this path in life and we commit ourselves to the development of each student. Both in their progress spiritually and also academically.
PBC arose from a vision of the world’s need for the gospel of grace, the need for more effective servants of the gospel, and the need for intentional Bible-based ministry and theological training. During the past 90 years thousands of people have been trained and entered God’s service in a host of ministries both here in Western Australia, interstate, and abroad. PBC continues today by the grace and faithfulness of God with this same vision. There are many who still need to be reached, and there are ministries everywhere that need to be started and strengthened by men and women skilled and passionate about the gospel. 90 years on we continue to commit ourselves to this vision; to equip others to be effective in “THINKING SERVICE“, in the many contexts in which God is calling his people to serve.
In 1928 the Lord placed a burden on the heart of the Reverend Carment Urquhart (picture left) to commence a Bible Institute in Perth. On the 2nd of July of that year, he took a bold step of faith and launched what is today called Perth Bible College. Carment Urquhart later penned these words in the end-of-year student magazine, giving us an insight into the mind and passion of this brilliant yet gently-spoken leader:
The shame of a world not yet evangelised should rouse us to vigorous activity. It is our business to publish the Gospel of Jesus Christ among all nations: it is God’s business to see that we are able to do it. …The regular ministry cannot supply this need. Where are the men and women whom God desires to be trained in our institute for “the greatest work in the world”; the preaching of the gospel both within and without our State?
Perth Bible College has had several homes over the years. Early premises were rented in and around Mount Lawley. In September 1934, the College moved into buildings on its own land in Joondanna. The picture to the left, taken in 1940, shows the Principals house on the left, the lecture hall in the centre and the training home on the right. From February 1951 until July 1986, it was again located at Mount Lawley, after which it moved to the current Karrinyup campus.
Since it’s inception many distinguished men and women of God have given leadership to the College. Over 1600 students have passed through it’s doors, many into full-time Christian ministry in Australia, and others to every continent of the globe.
PBC, established in 1928, is an interdenominational evangelical Bible College which maintains a fine tradition of training men and women for ministry. PBC has had several homes over the years. Early premises were rented in and around Mt. Lawley. In September 1934, the College moved into buildings on its own land in Joondanna. From February 1951 until July 1986, it was located at Mt. Lawley, and since then has been at the current Karrinyup campus. The current campus has outstanding facilities, including excellent accommodation on site.
PBC is an approved private Higher Education provider and all of the College’s courses in this prospectus are fully government accredited. All students who are Australian citizens can access FEE-HELP and full-time students may be eligible for Austudy or Youth Allowance. PBC is also a CRICOS approved overseas provider, which means all courses can be studied full-time by overseas students. PBC is a participating member of the South Pacific Association of Evangelical Colleges. This has the advantage that all PBC courses are internationally recognised by evangelical and para-church agencies, guaranteeing further career opportunities for students.

Perth Bible College (PBC) seeks to create an educational experience that enriches both the students and the staff. To do this, the organisation recognises the need for placing the student at the centre of all that PBC aims to achieve. Though there are a few key areas that immediately come to mind when doing this, such as the courses themselves, the lecture itself is but a small aspect of the learning experience. By applying a holistic approach to the learning environment, the staff themselves are included, suggesting that a student-centred strategic plan must also seek to improve the lives of all involved in the running of the College. By keeping the student at the centre and acknowledging the impact of the staff, the Strategic Framework was created.
