Carment Urquhart and His Vision, The Perth Bible Institute.Irene M. Spice$15.00 + postage ($5.00 within Australia) In late October of 1938 the Revd Carment Urquhart, then living in Perth, Western Australia, sat down to write an article for the end-of-year student magazine of the Bible Institute which he had founded there ten years earlier. This is how he concluded that article:The shame of a world not yet evangelized should rouse us to vigorous activity. It is our business to publish the Gospel of Jesus Christ among all nations: it is God’s business to see that we are able to do it. By “our business” we mean the business of every Christian without any exception whatever. How much are we doing? How much are we concerned? May the Lord give us more and more of His concern. Even limiting consideration to Western Australia, do we realize that .not only thousands of aborigines, but also thousands of people of our own colour here have never yet listened to the Gospel message? The regular ministry cannot supply this need. Where are the young men and young women whom God desires to be trained in our Institute for “the greatest work in the world”, the preaching of the Gospel both within and without our State. Here we have a rare peep into the mind and soul of this brilliant, gently spoken leader, who by 1938 could have been a wealthy man, but instead was virtually penniless – an enigma to many of his contemporaries. |

Worship, the way to know GodDr Andre van Oudtshoorn$20.00 + postage ($5.00 within Australia) Worship – The Way To Know Godfocusses on the object of our worship – God Himself. For this reason, this book reaches beyond being just another standard description ofworship or merely a simple conglomeration of recipes to help us in ourworship of God. Worship – The Way To Know God commits us to thinkthrough some deeper issues:
The unique syle of this book entices us to think carefully on the One whomwe are called to worship; through it we are confronted by more thanjust dry academic facts about God and the worship of Him, we areinvited to participate with our whole beings in the search for trueworship. Worship is conversational, a personal response to thedivine initiative. In the same way this book leads the reader to firstreflect on the One we worship, and to then respond in prayer. Worship – The Way To Know God takes us on a journey, a journey away from ourselves and to the very heart of God Himself. Andre van Oudtshoorn (B.A. B.D. Dip.Th. D.Th.) is a Senior Lecturer in Systematic and Practical Theology at Perth Bible College who has lectured and conducted seminars in South Africa, England and Australia. Andr? specialises in Practical Theology with an emphasis on effective communication. Andre seeks to integrate theology and practical living through all his work.
