Postgraduate Studies – Research Awards
The following research courses are offered through Sydney College of Divinity.
Master of Arts (Honours)
A 1 to 2 year full-time, 6 year part-time program of graduate study in theologically related disciplines for candidates with an honours Bachelor degree (non-theological) or a Master of Arts (at credit level or better with Research Essay or equivalent).
Master of Theology (Honours)
A 1 to 2 year full-time, 6 year part-time program of graduate study in theology and related disciplines by research and the submission of a thesis for candidates with a Bachelor of Theology (Honours) or Master of Theology (at credit level or better with Research Essay or equivalent).
Doctor of Theology
A 4 year full-time, 12 year part-time program of graduate study in theology and related disciplines by research and the submission of a thesis for candidates with an honours degree of Master of Theology (or equivalent) or a degree of Bachelor of Theology with Honours Class II (Division 1) or better.
Doctor of Ministry
A 4 year full-time, 12 year part-time higher award by research and coursework for candidates with a four-year theological award or combination of awards (or equivalent), and at least four years full-time, or equivalent part-time, certified experience of ministry. The award provides for professional development in ministry at the highest academic level and thereby enables candidates to make a distinct contribution to the profession of ministry.
Doctor of Philosophy
A 4 year full-time, 12 year part-time program of graduate study in theologically related disciplines by research and the submission of a thesis for candidates with a Master of Arts (Honours) or a four-year Bachelor (Honours) or equivalent, with results at Honours Class II (Division 1) or better.
