Graduate Diploma of Arts

The Graduate Diploma of Arts is a 1 year (30 week) course designed to enable students who already have a Bachelor Degree in another field to study at postgraduate level and gain a solid theological and practical foundation for Christian service. The course also allows students to select from a range of ministry elective units which they feel best suit their voacational or ministry needs. As such it is ideal for professionals, such as school teachers, who already have an undergraduate degree and require counselling, chaplaincy, pastoral, or other specialist training at post-graduate level. The course is equivalent to 1 year of the Master of Divinity.

Students who have completed this qualification will be able to:

  • Analyse and interpret the Bible responsibly within the modern day context,
  • Understand the scope, contents and context of a range of different Old and New Testament books,
  • Identify and critically evaluate a range of theological and ethical issues in the Bible and place this within a systematic and coherent theological framework,
  • Develop an appropriate and Biblically based philosophy of ministry in line with the needs of the modern day congregation,
  • Effectively communicate the knowledge and insights gained within the area of specialization, and
  • Continue their academic studies towards a Master of Divinity Degree.

Course Overview
Structure: 8 units. The course may be taken with or without a specialisation. A specialisation comprises 3 units in one of the following fields: Biblical Studies, Theology, Christian Ministry.
